Don’t worry, here at TLE we may just have the answer. TLE provides face-to-face Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) services across our centres*, delivered under the Next Step brand, with the main goal of this service being to help people find jobs. In an IAG session one of our qualified Careers Advisors will review with you your current situation, the skills you possess and your career aims, and create a Skills Action Plan which will outline the next steps you need to take to achieve your goals and will give you target dates by which you should complete them. You should be able to access a total of 3 advice sessions in your time with us. At TLE we recognise the need for people to be able to up-skill or gain new qualifications, as well as receive expert advice to assist them in job hunting, career change or to succeed with career development, and our experienced advisors are able to provide this service for all of our clients. We have a clear vision at TLE for all of our clients to be consistently receiving the highest quality of service possible and being able to access a clear pathway to the form of employment they desire, and we are able to do this through our extensive referral systems and contacts – our advisors will direct you to the most appropriate institutes or organisations for you to be able to achieve your ultimate goal. Our advisors have regularly aided clients seeking educational guidance, and can help you apply through UCAS and other systems to gain entry into further education, or refer you to a particular institute to obtain the necessary qualifications to gain access to further education. They are also able to cater for those seeking training and employment in more practical fields like construction, and can refer you for Apprenticeships or to a specialist provider if you are seeking a CSCS card, for example. Our advisors are also able to give you advice to help you improve your CV and its layout. A further benefit you can gain from our IAG service is that if you and your advisor feel that you have a learning need in either literacy, numeracy, IT or employability, your advisor will discuss with you the possible ways in which you can be provided with a detailed assessment of your needs, and, with your agreement, you can be referred to TLE for assessments in any of these areas as we provide these across our centres. If your assessment reveals a learning need then you may decide that you would like to undertake a course with TLE. *Unfortunately we are currently unable to deliver this service in our Slough, Hounslow, Romford and Birmingham centres, but we hope to be offering it soon, and you can still access advice and guidance in a more informal setting from our centre staff.Help, I need a job!
